wanting label: the binding rubbed and worn but sound and strong
and internally in nice state.
Not in Roscoe, cf. A51. First published, posthumously, in 1753 as ’A new
pantheon’. It proved popular and ran to a number of editions. Boyse
(1708–49), poet, and translator, born in Dublin, was educated there
privately, possibly a pupil of Francis Hutcheson …. In London he lived
hand to mouth, eventually finding work as a Grub Street hack writer.
Samuel Johnson considered him a talented translator, producing
translations of Voltaire (1738), Fénelon (1749), and Prévost. However,
he was also known to pawn the books he was commissioned to translate
(IDNB).

(1722 - 1804), born in Ireland, studied with Francis Hutcheson and
William Leechman at the University of Glasgow, became a Presbyterian
minister in 1747 and in 1752 became the sole minister of the Scots
Presbyterian church in The Hague. He was familiar with contemporary
philosophy as well as other intellectual activities. He published this work
just a few months after Gibbon published the first volume of his Decline
and Fall, and he mentions Gibbon briefly in this work. It was published
in London in the same year, with a second edition in 1778.

Liverpool and Manchester Railway, introduced the flat-footed rails, etc.
