Archbishop of Dublin), George W. Crawford, J. Irvine Peacocke (Once

Bishop of Derry & Raphoe), J.H. Yates, E. Moore, George Salmon

(renowned Trinity scholar mathematician), C.S. Coliers, E. Thomas &

more. An interesting collection relating to “Gwynnity College”, as it was

known when the Gwynns were there. (21)

A family photograph album, cloth bound, including fishing at Lough

Melvin, Ballyglass, Bundoran, Rossall School, family members nursing

and soldiering and a gilt calf bound photograph album including views

of West Cork, Kerry, Wicklow, Dieppe, Paris, London, etc. together with a

framed view of The Gap of Dunloe and a portrait of a Highland bugler.

1913-1934 Harland and Wolff, photograph album

An album of 44 photographs of Harland and Wolff shipyards including

keel-laying, building and launches of tankers, liners and other shipping.

Pack Beresford, Denis Robert. Photograph album circa 1914-1921

Labelled “The Tansey, Howth”, the album includes a postcard of “Private

Morgan R.I.P.1918”. Many of the photographs are of family members and

friends, some in military uniforms in Africa, including Egypt & the

Middle East Suez) circa 1914-21. A valuable record of original images

relating to an Anglo-Irish family with Carlow and Howth connections as

well active involvement in British Regiments during the Boer War, and

World War 1 including the South Irish Horse Regiment. In more recent

times “The Tansey” was the home of John McColgan and Moya Doherty

of Riverdance fame. Around the time this album was compiled “The

Tansey” was owned by Denis Robert Pack-Beresford (1864-1942 ) an

Irish entomologist who specialised in arachnids. Denis Robert Pack-

Beresford was High Sherriff of Carlow, a Member of the Royal Irish

Academy and the Royal Dublin Society, and took part in its surveys of

Lambay and Clare Island . He wrote Contributions to a Natural History of

Lambay Island (1907) & other studies on Irish Natural History. He also

resided at Fenagh, Carlow. (96 photographs). 4 x 3in. (10 x 8cm)
