Blues in Britain, National Jazz Federation flyers
Five flyers, each promoting a different venue on the 1965 UK blues
tour by Big Mama Thornton, Buddy Guy, Doctor Ross, Lonesome
Jimmy Lee et al.; together with a quotation from the printers.
The National Jazz Federation was established to promote British Jazz
musicians but In 1958, they took over the jazz nights held in the Marquee
Ballroom in Oxford Street, expanding their programme and frequency
and occasionally inviting American musicians, including Muddy Waters,
to perform there. These events are regarded as having a seminal
influence on British R n’ B bands like the Rolling Stones.
