1915 A rare early photograph of General George
S. Patton, Mounted Service School, Fort Riley,
A programme of Mounted Service School, Fort Riley,
Kansas, Graduation Rides, 14 - 17 June, 1915. 2nd Lt.
George S. Patton Jnr., 15th Cavalry was Master of the
Sword at the school and is shown in four photographs,
including one in hunting dress. Published by the Mount-
ed Service School Printery and Bindery. N.D. (1915).
Pp104, including 94 illustrations of military equestrian
demonstrations.
The Mounted Service School was part of United States
Army Cavalry School from 1907 until America’s interven-
tion in the First WorldWar, when instruction ended for
the duration of the war.George Smith Patton, Jr.(1885-
1945), who features in three illustrations, was both a
master of swordsmanship and an equestrian student of
the Mounted Service School at the time of this publi-
cation. On graduation he participated in the campaign
against Pancho Villa on the US/Mexican border.
