The late Hugh Macklin was a personal friend of Neil Shawcross and was heavily involved in cultural activities, particularly
the areas of art, music and poetry. He was a former teacher at Dublin’s prestigious secondary school, Blackrock College
and a founder and long-time director of the charity Aidlink, aimed at improving the lives of those living in poverty in
Africa.
