In1926 the GAA gave the Tipperary Hurling team permission to be the first home based team to tour the

USA (at their own expense). As All-Ireland champions the Tipperary team drew a large crowd wherever they

played over a period of six weeks. The trip revived the interest in Gaelic games amongst the Irish diaspora in

the US and led to a new enthusiasm for the games and the formation of many clubs in North America.
