Desmond Dillon (b.1964)

Galway artist Desmond Dillon studied at the Limerick

School of Art and Design, Visual Education (1982) and

later at the Galway Institute of Technology, Diploma in

Textile Design (1986). His practice encompasses mask

making, puppets, props and costumes for theatre as well

as 3D wall pieces. He has won several awards for his work

including Young Designers of the Year Award, Dublin

(1986), Kilkenny Arts Week. Best of Fringe (1992) and

Claremorris Open, First Prize (1994). His first solo show

since 1998 - entitled ‘Wag Tail Water Fall’ - took place in

February 2016 at the Clonmel library, Tipperary.
