Faint makers mark of Johnston, Dublin. 3.50 by 3.50in. (8.9 by 8.9cm) Condition: Fine Inghinídhe na hÉireann (English: Daughters of Ireland) was a radical Irish nationalist women’s organisation led by Maud Gonne from 1900 to 1914, when it merged with the newly formed Cumann na mBan. Originally set up to provide an alternative to Queen Victoria’s party for children during her visit to Dublin, it rapidly evolved into a political movement and later a support to the Irish Volunteers and IRA, when it evolved into Cumann na mBan.
