membership card for the year 1911-12, issued to Elizabeth McConnell of
Barn Mills. Also with Ulster’s Solemn League and Covenant signed by
Elizabeth Ireland McConnell at the Town Hall Carrickfergus, pasted on
the corners to a page from an album. An interesting pair of Unionist

1914: Edward Carson Unionist Paragon china cup
Souvenir china cup produced by the Paragon Company. Decorated with a
portrait of Carson flanked by flags and quotation above and below “One
Crown, One Parliament, One Flag - Against my King I do not Fight but
for my King and Kingdom’s Right”. An interesting piece of unionist
memorabilia.

Spence (1933-2011), one-time Loyalist fighter, Ulster Volunteer Force
commander in chief, and latterly peacemaker and negotiator

1957-61: Documents relating to Spence’s military career including
pay book
Soldier’s Record and Pay Book of Augustus Andrew Spence whilst a
member of the Royal Ulster Rifles detailing promotions, training, service
details, next of kin, will etc. Also with Spence’s Soldier’s Employment
Association registration card, third class Army certificate of education
issued in 1958, R.U.R. Association Club Card, letter from 39 Infantry
Brigade Group and postcard sent home while on service.

Spence. A number of which are of the UVF commander himself. Includes

secret radio, displaying prisoner art, football teams, dinners (31) Also
photographs taken outside Long Kesh including RHC members with guns,
social photographs, Orange parades and press photographs of Gusty (20).
