1885-1967: Collection of historical pictures of Drogheda by Thomas
Markey
A collection of 9 drawings of Drogheda by Thomas Markey, variously
signed, inscribed and dated. Comprising of The Tholsel, Christmas Eve
1952; The Mall, Holy Year 1950; A Busy Day at Drogheda Port; Trade and
Commerce at Drogheda Port; A View of the Cord Cemetery and Viaduct;
A View of the Dominican Church across the River Boyne; A View of the
Viaduct and the Irish Oil and Cake Mills; The Entrance to Ballsgrove
Estate and an unfinished view of St. Mary’s Church, James’ Street across
the River Boyne. Thomas Markey (1885-1967) a topographical and figure
painter was born in Drogheda and was a carpenter for the Corporation
of Drogheda. A self-taught artist Markey worked in oil and watercolour
and also executed a set of drawings and engravings of historical
buildings and scenes in the town, which these works form part of. All
unframed; average size given 20 x 25in. (50.80 x 63.50cm).

A pair of uniformly framed pencil drawings by L. Le Priol. The first of
Classiebawn Castle from Blunduff Road and the second of Benwiskin and
the lake (Cliffoney). Each signed and dated lower left and titled on

1973: Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin restoration fund silver plates
A complete set of four Dublin hallmarked silver plates issued in 1973 as
a special edition to raise funds for the restoration of St. Patrick’s
Cathedral. Each plate engraved with a different image comprising of the
exterior of the Cathedral, the ancient Chapter Seal of the Cathedral, the
portrait of Jonathan Swift and the interior of the Cathedral. All with
boxes of issue. Each plate weighs 310g approx. (4 items)
