1920-21: Indentures and seals appointing judges to the Connaught
and North-East Circut Assizes
An interesting pair of indentures both complete with attached Great
Seal of King George V . The first a Commision of Assize for the
Connaught Circut Spring Assizes 1920 covering the areas of King’s
County , Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon, Mayo and Galway, with list of
judges appointed. The second a Commision of Assize for the North East
Circut Spring Assizes 1921 covering the areas of Meath, Louth,
Monaghan, Armagh, Down and Antrim again with a list of judges

Offical Correspondence Relating to the Peace Negotiaions June-
September 1921 signed by de Valera and dated 4 May 1962. Also Fianna
Fáil 21st Anniversary Celebration and Matt Stafford portrait presentation
dinner menu and 1966 Boland’s Mills Rebellion commemorative booklet.

1975: Éamon de Valera Silver Commemorative Medals
Pair of cased silver Éamon de Valera medals produced by Spink following
his death in 1oz and 2.5 oz versions. Both with certificates of issue. Also
with Pádraig Pearse 1 oz commemorative silver medal produced by
Jewellery and Metal Company, Dublin, in box of issue the obverse with
relief portrait of Pearse and reverse with quotation “I have turned my
face to this road before me to the deed that I see and the death I shall
die”. and another John Paul II commemorative medal in box. (3 items)

1922 (8 April) Rialtas Sealadach Na hÉireann Super Tax handbill
Scarce Irish Provisional Government circular printed in Dublin by Thom.
5000 issued. Probably the first financial Super Tax circular ever issued by
an Irish government. An early issue for the new provisional government
was the raising of funds to run the country and the assessment and
collection of taxes was obviously an important priority. This notice was
printed three days after the British had passed the Irish Free State
Agreement Act and issued to those potentially liable for Super tax, five
days later. 6.50 x 4in. (16.51 x 10.16cm)

1921: Sir John Lavery artist’s proof portrait of Arthur Griffith
Lithograph print printed by Wilson Hartnell & Co. Publishers, Dublin.
Signed in pencil by Lavery and Griffith in the lower margin and with
artist’s name, publisher’s details and proof blindstamp. 17.50 x 14.50in.
(44.45 x 36.83cm).
Lavery painted portraits of Arthur Griffith and Michael Collins in 1921
whilst they were in London negotiating the terms of the Irish Treaty.
Within months of their portraits being painted, both men were dead -
Griffith of a heart attack, Collins assasinated only weeks later. The
present lithograph is based on the oil portrait now in the collection of
the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Dublin.
