1922 (14 July) Cork Brigade IRA Civil War Post Office Telegrams
A pair of telegrams addressed to the postmaster at Skibbereen Michael J.
Somers. The first ordering the cutting off of all telephone and telegraphic
communications with Dublin and Great Britain and noting that “it is
treasonable to have any communication”. The second cancelling the order
and signed by the First Cork Brigade IRA. Also with a number of original
newspaper clippings relating to Michael Somers including obituaries and
a facsimile photograph (6 items)

1922 (5 August) Republican prisoners’ letter to ‘The Commandant
Kilmainham Detention Barracks’
Mimeograph copy letter sent to the Commandant at Kilmainham from
the leaders of Republican prisoners including Oscar Traynor and Tom
Barry, demanding ‘that you should grant them such rights and privileges
as Irish Republican soldiers are entitled to...’. Also with a 3pp mimeograph
circular titled “An Irish Priest’s Appeal to the Men & Women of Ireland”
dated 3 July 1922 and signed as ‘Colm Cille’ and Vol. 1 No. 3 of Ná Bac

1922 (22 August) Original Photograph of Michael Collins shortly
before his death
Historically significant photographic postcard showing Collins in uniform
with his head bowed climbing into his Leyland Tourer, surrounded by
large crowds. With contemporaneous note verso “22 August 1922 at
Skibbereen an hour or so before Michael Collins was shot”. A clear image
and one of the last known photographs of Collins alive. See lot 182 for
