correspondence:
Relates to the O’Neill family, resident in The Dublin Union, also in
Motherwell, Scotland. Includes family photographs - cabinet (7), carte de
visite (9) and postcard (41), the latter including two early Irish Free State
soldiers and an interior of a school showing children at class circa 1920, also
a larger Shamrock Rovers football team circa 1963, an 1898 Shipping
Federation Liverpool Master’s Certificate for Christopher O’Neill with stamps
from 1898 to 1904, 5 letters from a nun in USA in 1930s and a collection of
stereoscope photos (31) including some Irish, USA and Isle of Man. (95)

circa 1900: Dublin Metropolitan Police Mounted Troop group photograph
A remarkable large mounted photograph by Lafayette of the Dublin
Metropolitan Police Mounted Troop, clearly taken at their Kevin Street
Barracks with a view of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the background. The
distinctive Inspector Richard Chase is identifiable in the centre of the group,
while many others have visible serial numbers. 12 x 10in. (30 x 25cm)

A large card notice to the hotel’s guests and visitors giving times of meals
and other information. Also with a card-backed linen notice for a Spanish

Includes map of Greystones produced by James H. North Auctioneer, circa
1904. It shows in colour 12 considerable sized lots being offered for sale.
They include 4 properties at Bayswater Terrace, Greystones, 5 other
properties on Sidmonton Terrace, another property consisting of 4 stables
and coach houses, 3 other lots at and adjacent to Beaconsfield Terrace. The
map measures approx. 26 x 20 inches.

International Exhibition Dublin. International Exhibition Dublin 1907: a
collection of Memorabilia & Ephemera
This collection comprises: A green coloured jug,30 different postcards,16
postally used & postmarked 1906-07, pair of copper/bronze Irish
International Exhibition Medals, a small box, novelty miniature conical cups
on a chain; metal bottle with pipe inside, 3 matching egg cups, teacup, all
inscribed with exhibition title or similar, some illustrated. An interesting and
unusual collection

circa 1909: Women’s Social and Political Union or ‘suffragette’ tea cup
and saucer
A bone china tea cup and saucer pair by H.M. Williamson & Sons of
Longton, Staffordshire both with the transfer printed ‘angel of freedom’
crest of the Women’s Social and Political Union in the suffragette tricolour
of purple, white and green designed by Sylvia Pankhurst. These particular
examples are extremely scarce and were commissioned by the suffragette
movement to be used in the refreshment room at the May 1909 Prince’s
Skating Ring Women’s Exhibition. They were subsequently sold off to raise
funds for the W.S.P.U. Excellent examples.

1910-1922: John Russell Stritch ephemera and invitations including Lady
Augusta Gregory letter and Dáil Éireann admission tickets
An extremely interesting collection of mixed documents and ephemera
relating to John Russell Stritch, a councillor, solicitor and Swedish consul.
Including two letters sent to Stritch in his professional role: the first on ‘Law
Room Dublin Castle’ headed paper dated 14 December 1913 relating to The
Abbey Players, Lady Gregory and The Hugh Lane Gallery fund stating “I want
to see the letters - all of them - that passed between Lady Gregory and the
Players”. The second a return letter dated 16 December handwritten and
signed by Augusta Gregory on Lindsey House headed paper stating “I
enclose as requested copies of 3 letters to the Abbey Theatre Co. about the
Gallery Fund and theirs to me.” Also with 3 Dáil Éireann admission tickets
for 10/11 April 1919, 9 May 1919 and 16 August 1921. An invitation from
the Chairman of the Kingstown Urban District Council to a banquet on 28
May 1913 in honour of the visit of Swedish warships, with related dinner
menu, a Swedish invite to lunch on board H. M. Thor during the same visit
and some newspaper clippings etc. (11 items)
