Pte. J. McCallion, Royal Munster Fusiliers. With facsimile service records,

including casualty sheet showing Pte. McCallion as ‘Slightly Wounded’ at

Bethleham on 6 July 1900.

Queen Victoria South Africa Medal to an Irish soldier.

No dates, with Transvaal, Orange Free State and Cape Colony clasps to

3530 Private E. Burke, Leinster Regiment. Private Burke was born in

Rathfarnham, Dublin in 1872 and was a member of the 2nd Battalion,

Leinster Regiment. Very fine.

An oval brass plate, engraved with the crowned Maid of Erin harp, scrolls

above and below inscribed “LOUGHRY - INFANTRY”. 2¾ x 2in. (5 x 5cm)

Little is recorded of this militia other than it was formed circa 1797 in

County Tyrone.

1796 Officer’s Shoulderbelt-Plate of the Powerscourt Cavalry

An oval silvered copper plate, engraved with the Crowned Harp, flanked

by 17 and 96, scrolls above and below inscribed “POWERSCOURT -

CAVALRY”. 3 x 2¼in. (8 x 5cm)

In the 1798 Rebellion General Joseph Holt surrendered to Lord

Powerscourt IV and was taken directly for imprisonment in Dublin Castle

by the Powerscourt Cavalry, who had long been hunting for him.

“Presented by the Officers of the detachment 18th Royal Irish to the

Ladies of The Armagh Archers, May 1870” inscribed on reverse, the

obverse bearing “RI” surmounted by Queen’s crown in relief, with a more

recent pin back attachment .
