A late 19th century mould-blown glass bowl, the scalloped rim over two

relief portraits of Charles Stewart Parnell and a shield-shaped cartouche

with the inscription ‘CHARLES S PARNELL - MP FOR CORK - BORN JUNE

- 1846 - AT - AVONDALE - RATHDRUM’, on tapering hexagonal stem and

circular starburst-cut base. 5½ x 5½in. (13.97 x 13.97cm)

Gaol.

Wanted Poster: £100 REWARD ‘’Wanted Information leading to the

whereabouts of convict John Hynes who escaped from Galway Gaol, on

29th November, 1892. With detailed description of the wanted man & a

statement that a reward of £100 will be paid to any person who provides

information leading to the escaped convict’s re-arrest. Issued by

Inspector General CG Wickham, Royal Irish Constabulary. Rare original

Curry, Sall. A Manuscript Notebook of an Irish Nun Who worked and

Lived in Poland and Russia from 1896-1904.. 8vo. Morocco bound.

Unpaginated 92pp. manuscript notebook containing reminiscences in

verse & prose relating to the author’s leaving Ireland to work abroad as a

nun in Poland and Russia circa 1896-1904. While most of the

contributions are by the author there are others by friends and

colleagues and some drawings and watercolours and photographs.

1895 (15 March ) and 1896 (17 August) letters from George Gavan

Duffy concerning The New Irish Library

Written from Villa Guillory, Nice, to Michael MacDonagh concerning

publishing The New Irish Library. The New Irish Library, was a series of

books on Irish history and literature issued by the London publisher,

Fisher Unwin in 1897. Gavan Duffy was one of the editors. Also a 1904

letter from John Murray regarding publication of Michael MacDonagh’s

book, A Viceroy’s Post Bag, with interesting comments on Irish events of

the late 18th and early 19th century. (3)

Mayor of Dublin

Notice by The Ulster King of Arms in Ireland and Principle Herald of All

Ireland, granting a coat of arms to Daniel Tallon, High Sherriff of Dublin

and Lord Mayor Designate, incorporating wax seal and enclosed in red

and gilt hide-bound box; together with an illuminated address from the

Licensed Grocers and Vintners Protection Association to Daniel Tallon, in

carved oak frame; also with a Souvenir Medal of New York to Daniel

Tallon, framed. (3)

From a group of his friends on the occasion of his marriage. The address

headed by two oval portraits of the couple and surrounded by stylised

1905. Rear Admiral Arthur Hilderbrand Alington relating to the death

of Lieut. George Walker on board HMS Rodney in 1853....

....and his burial on Tenedos Island off the Turkey mainland. He describes

Walker as “a first rate officer and seaman in those days when

Seamanship was a high art”. 8 page letter.

Admiral Alington saw service all over the world beginning with the Crimean War in

1854. HMS Rodney was the first British two-decker to carry ninety guns or more

and took part in the battle of Sebastopol, regarded as a champion of naval

architecture it was the last wooden capital ship in active seagoing commission.

1905 - 1907 A collection of photographs including the visit of Kaiser

Wilhelm to Tangiers

A collection of 87 photographs taken by a Royal Navy officer while

stationed in Gibraltar. Includes a photograph of Kaiser Wilhelm II

inspecting the troops at the harbour of Tangier, at the start of his State

visit to Morocco which sparked the First Moroccan Crisis.
