Circa 1930 to 1955. An extensive correspondence concerning the
McCormick family, Dalkey and Blackrock, Co. Dublin.
A fascinating correspondence, mainly from John McCormick to his
parents Mr and Mrs de Courcy McCormick at their house Bartra in
Dalkey and later Somerset in Blackrock. The correspondence starts from
school in England through study at Cambridge and then World War II in
which he served as a lieutenant, mainly in the Middle East, later service
in the British diplomatic corps including Indonesia and USA. Most of the
letters are in their original envelopes, with a variety of postal markings
including military censorship 1939-45. Interesting account of a young
man’s progress from the Dublin suburbs, through Oxbridge in the 1930s,
World War in the 1940s, and the diplomatic social and political rounds
in the 1950s. Includes a few photographs and picture postcards. (100s)

Hans Michael Frank (23 May 1900 – 16 October 1946) was a German lawyer who
worked for the Nazi party during the 1920s and 1930s, and later became Hitler’s
personal lawyer. After Hitler’s ascension to power in 1933, Frank became Nazi
Germany’s chief jurist and Governor-General of occupied Poland’s ‘General
Government’ territory. During his tenure (1939–1945), he instituted a reign of
terror against the civilian population, systematic plunder and brutal economic
exploitation and became directly involved in the mass murder of Polish citizens. At
the Nuremberg trials, he was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against
humanity and was executed.
