Called to the Bar in 1945 and the inner Bar in 1959, Niall McCarthy was chairman
of the Bar council from 1980 until his appointment to the Supreme Court in 1982.
The renowned barrister of his day, his work included representing Charles Haughey
in the Arms Trial.
