Painted c.1936, when Mitchell took private painting
lessons in Lilian Davidson's studio. Lillias Mitchell went
on to become an expert weaver and head of the textiles
department in NCAD. The Golden Fleece Awards,
administered by the RDS, are offered annually in her
memory to artists working with traditional art forms.
