19th Century Toureg takouba from the Sahara and a Yemeni jambiya
The sword with 31 inch straight steel blade, 1.5 inches tapering gradually
to .5 inch, fluted towards the leather covered hilt, with conical brass top,
in maroon leather scabbard. The dagger with 8 inch curved polished steel
blade, decorated on hilt with two white metal circular badges with a
design imitated from a Venetian ducat of the 13th century inscription
SITT XPEDATOT RECISTE DUC. See British Museum reference
2009,4007.545, American Numismatic Society 1954.237.509. In wooden
sheath covered in coloured twine attached to cloth belt decorated
extensively in silver bullion. (2)

An unusual pair of Indian made swords with a curved steel blade marked
“Made in India”, faux leather grip with binding, European style steel
guard, faux leather scabbard with steel mountings. An identical pair both
blades 29.5”. (2 items)

circa 1870: Tranter’s patent double action revolver by Rigby London
Tranter’s Patent double action Army revolver with serial number 3646.
Barrel engraved “Jno. Rigby & Co. 72 St. James St. London”. Overall length
8.5”, barrel 3.5”, 7 shot cylinder. A fine example retaining much of its
original finish. Rigby’s also retailed these weapons from their premises at
Suffolk Street, Dublin.

circa 1885: South African shotgun by J.F. King of Durban
An excellent and scarce later 19th Century South African double barrelled
percussion 12 bore sporting shotgun. The barrel engraved with maker’s
mark “J. F. King. Gunmaker, Durban” Walnut stock with chequered grip.
With an interesting provenance showing that the gun was originally
purchased by Daniel Nielsen of Norway who emigrated to Natal in 1860
where he worked for the Norwegian Missionary Society. The gun was kept
in the same house until 1977 when the home was destroyed by fire. The
gun being one of the few items to survive, doing so in remarkable
condition. With accompanying paperwork including a Mercury Reporter
newspaper article relating to the arson incident and mentioning the gun.

British Mark III* pattern flare pistol date stamped 1917 with maker’s
marks of Webley & Scott Ltd and other proof marks. A fine example. Also

1939-45: German MG42 Light Machine Gun
A de-activated 7.92mm MG42 number 342 with Waffenamt marking and
manufacturer code ‘bnz’. Complete with ammunition belt and box. The
MG 42 (shortened from German: Maschinengewehr 42, or “machine gun
42”) was a 7.92 × 57mm Mauser general purpose machine gun that was
developed in Nazi Germany and entered service with the Wehrmacht in
1942. It supplemented, and, in some instances, replaced the MG 34
general-purpose machine gun in all branches of the German Armed
Forces, though both weapons were manufactured and used until the end
of the war.
