1916 (April 25) The Irish Times, with full page of reports on the Rising which began the previous day.

Includes a leader on “The Outbreak”, a printed label affixed to the front page reads “Permission to issue this

paper was with-drawn at 8am on Tuesday, 25th April 1916. The paper issued to the public on that day was

considerably reduced in size. The Manager”. The full edition had been distributed earlier in the day before

the authorities suppressed it, hence the label. These labelled examples were made available after the surren-

der. Together with the replacement edition and the issues of April 26 and 27. A fascinating insight into press

censorship during the Rising. Overall condition very good. (4)
