McCann, Donal (1943-1999). Collection of scripts, books and
memorabilia much of it signed & inscribed by the famous Irish actor.
Includes film scripts for Out of Africa (1985) in which McCann played
the part of the doctor, a third draft of the script for The Miracle by Neil
Jordan (1990) in which McCann played the lead male role, an undated
script titled Jim by Tony Barry, from an idea by Donal McCann, script for
“Mister Egan by Charles McCarthy of Palmerston Road, Rathmines
(undated), folder with McCann’s name printed on it from the Circle
Square Theatre, Broadway, with annotations and notes and photocopied
reviews of O’Casey’s Juno and the Paycock, a Betamax video of the film
Poitín in original cover, a card dated Aug 28, ‘90 “for Donal.....with
profound gratitude for a performance without equal in contemporary
Irish theatre..... Joe”, a presentation folder from An Post to Donal
McCann of sheets of Irish Theatre stamps 1990, card from Celine
Costigan from Rathmines, Dublin in March, 1996 refers to her
appearance in “The Au Pair Man” at the Gate years ago and she goes on
to tell him he is “a magnificent actor”, professionally produced
photographs (6) & three contact sheets., apparently scenes from
December Bride (1990) set in Northern Ireland with co-stars Ciaran
Hinds and Saskia Reeves. The contact sheet has over 90 images, also
books (7) including Philip Ward’s Lost Songs signed & inscribed by him
for Donal with typed letter signed by Ward inserted, also Exit Praying
Part II An Apologia signed, inscribed and dated 1996 by the author Peter
