1916 (April 30) Public Notice, Surrender of

Pearse the Rebel Leader

A mimeograph of a handwritten document “PUB-

LIC NOTICE - The Co. Inspector is directed by

the Inspr. Gnl. R.I.C., to give the widest publicity

to the following communique received for H.E. the

Lord Lieut. - Vice Regal Lodge, - 30 April 1916.

- Yesterday Pearse the Rebel Leader Surrendered

and the great bulk of his supporters in the City,

and throughout the country have done likewise

- only a few detached bodies have not yet made

their submission, & these are being effectively

1916 (April 24) Easter Monday Races at Fairy-

house, race card.

The race-card of the Ward Union Hunt Steeple-

chases, Fairyhouse on Easter Monday, 1916. The

races were attended by a large number of the

British garrison and administration. Their absence

from Dublin at the beginning of the Rising facil-

itated the insurgents in establishing their strong-

holds around the city. A scarce and important

document. 12Pp., buff paper wrappers.

1916 (26 April) Travel Pass issued at Railway

Transport Office, Amiens Street.

Issued to Mr G. L. Armstrong, a railway official at

the Great Northern Railway, Amiens Street “may

be allowed to pass”. Early issue of a pass on the

third day the Rising, re-issued on 30 April and

renewed on 5 May until 10 May. Scarce.

of Musketry

On embossed cards, date stamped (2 May 1916)

“Commandant’s Office - Dollymount”; numbered

676 and 677, to Mrs and Mr F. J. Fitzgerald re-

spectively, of Borcette, Sutton; permitting them

“to proceed to Hume St. & return up to 6th inst”;

signed H. M. Lee, 2nd Lt. for The Adjutant, School

of Musketry. Each
