1914. Catalogue of The National Gallery of

Ireland with dedication to Lady Augusta Gregory

from Sir Hugh Lane, two days before his death.

Inscribed ‘To Aunt Augusta from the Director! April

5, 1915’ in Lane’s hand. Further inscription from

Lady Gregory: ‘Hugh gave me this as I said goodbye

to him at the door of the National Gallery, the last

time I ever saw him.’Two days later Sir Hugh Lane

perished in the sinking of the Lusitania, after it was

torpedoed by a German submarine off The Old

Head, Kinsale. With bookplate of Lady Gregory on

inside of front cover. Printed board covers, pp515,
