1932 GENERAL ELECTION
A unique collection of Cumann na nGaedheal Posters
Lots 334 to 360 are official election posters, flysheets and pamphlets
issued by Cumann na nGaedheal, which governed the Irish Free State
from 1922 under the leadership of William T. Cosgrave. Fianna Fáil
won the 1932 election under Éamon de Valera’s leadership and
remained in power until 1948. In 1933 Cumann na nGaedheal joined
some smaller political groupings to form Fine Gael. Most of these
posters are scarce and many are rare – most of them cannot be found
in the national collections.
Provenance for lots 334-360:
Frank Brandt, who designed most of the posters here;
Thence to his friend, the present owner
Frank Brandt’s wife, Muriel, and daughter, Ruth, were well known artists.
