1965. Sarah Gertrude Millin: Handwritten and signed letter
A 4pp manuscript signed letter dated 8 December 1965 on headed paper
by Sarah Gertrude Millin. Content relating to the death of her brother,
her hopes of writing a book dedicated to him called ‘Goodbye Dear
England’ and stating that “...I have seen as much as the world as I need to
and I am not prepared to visit England again while she goes on
tormenting South Africa and still more Rhodesia over race policies.
Chinese are undermining every part of Africa. Africa for the Africans
means not only the elimination of all whites, it means also Africa for the
Chinese...” Also with a copy of Millin’s autobiography ‘The Measure of my
Days”. Sarah Gertrude Millin (1889-1968), was a South African-born
writer. In her lifetime, she was one of the most popular English-language
novelists in South Africa. She also wrote biographies of Cecil Rhodes and
General Jan Smuts.

interest taken during the 1970s and covering the counties Waterford,
Wicklow, Kilkenny, Carlow, Sligo, Mayo etc. Also with slides showing the
1973 Red Cross visit to Áras an Uachtaráin.

Independence
Illustrated by Jacques Monory. Paris: Editions Philippe Lebaud - Le Club
Du Livre, 1975. Limited/Numbered. Signed by authors. Fine first limited
edition, one of 225 copies. No. 22/225. (although publisher originally
called for 300 copies, and the colophon indicates this, only 225 were
published). Large light blue plexiglass box (16 x 12in. approx.), with 3
drawers containing 104pp text by Butor in French, 20 signed silkscreens
by Monory, many objects of American ephemera, many encased in plastic,
also loose booklets and other evocative American memorabilia. Specially
published to celebrate the bicentenary of American Independence as seen
in the eyes of a Frenchman. It is in the tradition of De Tocquevillle,
Chateaubriand, or Duchamp.

Murtagh signed by a number of Fianna Fáil politicians of the 24th Dáil
including Charles Haughey, Brian Lenihan, Pádraig Flynn, Niall Andrews,
Gene Fitzgerald, Jim Tunney, John P. Wilson, Michael Woods and Ray
MacSharry. Also with Fianna Fáil Árd-Fheis 1986 observer pass and Fianna
Fáil Dublin North West Finance Committee Dinner Dance Menu for 17
March 1984 signatures include Charles Haughey, Niall Andrews, Michael
Barrett and Jim Tunney. Proceeds from this item will be donated to St.
Francis Hospice, Raheny.
