1875 (12 July). Letter from Arthur McMurrough Kavanagh, limbless Member of Parliament for Carlow
Three page letter from the pen of the incredible Arthur McMurrough Kavanagh, M.P. written from 10 Chester
Square, London. Born without arms or legs, Arthur served as Member of Parliament for fourteen years, travelled
to Russia, India and Persia, was an expert horseman and shot, and was a keen yachtsman. This letter is addressed
to his land agent “Devine” .

19th century nationalist ephemera, a Manchester Martyrs’ Memorial certificate of subscription and eight
Home Rule grocer’s tea bags.
An attractive unissued colour lithograph certificate printed by Coster, Johnson & Company, Dublin, for
subscribers to the memorial at Kilrush, Co. Clare; together with eight grocer’s tea-bags for Edward Duggan,
Ballybricken, printed with nationalist iconography and portraits of Home Rule supporters such as Sir Rowland
Blennerhassett and Isaac Butt. The certificate
A memorial to the three Fenian martyrs Allen Larkin & O’Brien was proposed for Memorial, Kilrush, Co. Clare
in the 1890s and completed in 1903. The three had taken part in an abortive attempt - in which a policeman was
killed - to rescue a prisoner in Manchester. They were hanged in November 1867.
